So, have you noticed the world is shrinking? Many Americans don't give much thought to the world beyond our borders but that doesn't mean it doesn't and shouldn't matter in this election. Our connectedness to rest of the world is critical. I am in Ethiopia and the Obama-mania here is incredible. Some days I wear an Obama button on my lapel and I can't count the number of people who initiate conversations, offer congratulations, bestow praise or relate their confidence in how an Obama presidency would change America...and the way the think of America.  There are some who say "America is not ready for a black man". When I ask them how they know, it is simply because their views of America is that of a racist and provincial land that discriminates against its own. By the way, I have not had a single person mention Clinton's name. Anyway, I just jumped on to post this great article I saw on Obama's leadership. Hope you have time to read it!

[Cross-Posted on my New Blog, Library Grape.] The Obama team made what I consider to be a political masterstroke yesterday by announcing their selection of respected former Congressman Leon Panetta to head the CIA. Although somewhat mixed, the reactions from the intelligence community have included a lot of praise for the Panetta pick: Former inte more...

I think it’s incredible that Beau Biden, the Delaware Attorney General and son of the state’s senior US Senator, went overseas for a tour of duty in the Iraq with his Delaware National Guard Unit. It’s a selfless act of bravery and patriotism. And from a partisan standpoint, I think it’s fantastic because far too few Democ more...

With his ship taking on water quickly, it’s captain- embattled Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich- is still firing his canons wildly. And much to the vexation of Senate Democrats, he’s actually landing some nasty shots. Despite having been charged with attempting use his constitutional appointment powers to sell President-elect Barack more...

The attached message below was sent to me from someone who lives in Alaska.  I think we should share these insights with as many people as possible.  Also, I know Sarah Palin is not running for President but given the way Dick Cheney has a crafted a unique scope of work for himself, we might want to pay attention.   http://w more...

I am glad Senator Obama has chosen to continue with online fundraising. The pundits and the right are having a field day with it though, calling him a flip flopper and saying he doesn't keep his word. I certainly would have thought the campaign would have anticipated this and crafted offensive messages. Instead of saying "the system is broken" why more...

The speech was good but I wish she would have included some additional qualifiers in her speech: 1. She needs to address her comments about Obama not being as qualified as she and McCain 2. an acknowledgement that she has stirred up alot of controversy about having 18mil votes (which is a huge unknown on both sides) and counting the votes in FL a more...
