The end is near for Hillary Clinton and the now famous "bitter" comment made by Barack Obama last week proves it.

This is exactly what Hillary Clinton has been waiting for, a moment in which she could find just a hairline fracture in Barack Obama's armor in order to wedge herself in and try to pry it open with one last burst of every remaining drop of energy she has.  She would then convince the superdelegates that Barack Obama was unelectable and therefore they need to overrule The People and select her as the party's nominee.

That was it.  That was all that Team Clinton had left and this past weekend in San Francisco Barack Obama gave them the chance to see if their strategy would work.

It did not.

McCain and Clinton have been beating the drum relentlessly since a blogger at the Huffington Post leaked an Obama speech at a private fundraiser in San Francisco.

McCain/Clinton has been claiming that Obama is wildly out of touch and that his comments prove he is unelectable.

Obama had some pretty funny responses to Team McCain/Clinton's assertion that they were more in touch with the American people than he was.  As I have come to expect, Sen. Obama has once again weathered a potentially dangerous storm and is coming out looking better than he did when it began.

Ironically, Clinton's claims that Obama is out of touch, made at a major forum in Pennsylvania yesterday were met with a chorus of jeers from the audience.  As the jeers momentarily grew louder, Clinton just kept on going.  It was quite a site to watch someone discuss how "in-touch" she is while getting jeered and heckled by the audience.  Clearly it is not Barack Obama who is out of touch.

As further proof that it is Clinton who is out of touch, Obama is still trending towards a bigger lead in the nation-wide polls and cutting Clinton's lead in Pennsylvania.  A new Gallup Poll shows that Sen. Obama has opened up his largest lead of the campaign against Sen. Clinton nationally, 50% - 40%.  In Pennsylvania, the polls are still tightening every day.  No one is agreeing with Clinton that Obama's statements are proof that he is out of touch and can't get elected.  Yet Clinton continues heaving yet another "kitchen sink" at Barack Obama.

She even created this ad which features Clinton supporters in Pennsylvania discussing why Obama's remarks offended them.  Some are calling this Hillary Clinton's toughest ad of the campaign so far.  They may be right, but the negative and unfair attacks made by Clinton are turning people off.

One thing the pundits of all different stripes agree on is that this election is about "change."  After eight years of George W. Bush, America wants a new direction, a direction that does not include the dirty politics of the past.

The Clinton ad is simply serving as a reminder to the people of Pennsylvania that she is not listening to them.

By contrast, Barack Obama is currently running this ad entitled "one voice."  The link takes you to a site that has all eight Barack Obama spots currently running in The Keystone State.

When the two commercials are viewed back-to-back, which no doubt has happened somewhere, at some recent time in Pennsylvania, Obama comes away looking like the one who understands America's strong desire for a new type of politics.

Hillary Clinton on the other hand just keeps piling up evidence that reveals her pattern of ignoring the will of the people.

If the people vote for Obama, ignore them.

If the elected delegates are committed to Obama, tell them to change their mind and ignore the will of the voters.

If the superdelegates want to vote for the candidate who has a better chance to win in November, ignore all the polls that show Obama has a much better chance of beating John McCain in the fall and choose Clinton.

Now Sen. Clinton is showing us that she is ignoring our wishes and desires as well.  She doesn't even know that she's ignoring us though.  Her arrogance is so deep that she honestly believes she is running this campaign the right way, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Last week Hillary Clinton "fired" chief strategist Mark Penn.  Penn was the architect of the failed "kitchen sink" strategy.  We were told that this shake-up in the Clinton Campaign was supposed to create a new direction for Hillary, but it is clear nothing has changed.  Mark Penn is still advising the campaign, and Hillary Clinton's team is still stuck in the year 2000 with her losing Mark/Terry McAuliffe-style strategies.

It's over Hillary.

[Cross-Posted on my New Blog, Library Grape.] The Obama team made what I consider to be a political masterstroke yesterday by announcing their selection of respected former Congressman Leon Panetta to head the CIA. Although somewhat mixed, the reactions from the intelligence community have included a lot of praise for the Panetta pick: Former inte more...

I think it’s incredible that Beau Biden, the Delaware Attorney General and son of the state’s senior US Senator, went overseas for a tour of duty in the Iraq with his Delaware National Guard Unit. It’s a selfless act of bravery and patriotism. And from a partisan standpoint, I think it’s fantastic because far too few Democ more...

With his ship taking on water quickly, it’s captain- embattled Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich- is still firing his canons wildly. I have been saying it for months now, Barack Obama is the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. And now that he has clinched a victory in pledged delegates the remaining contests in Puerto Rico, South Dakota and Montana are nothing more than a formality. Of those three contests none appear to have a chance to play a roll in the General Ele more...

November 4th, 2008 is rapidly approaching, 161 short days from now.   No one knows for sure what the outcome of the election will be, but yesterday two things became clear; 1). Bob Barr's name will be almost as well known as Ralph Nader's and 2). Barack Obama is likely to receive at least some sort of an Electoral Map boost from Barr in more...

What a difference a day makes. In my last post I narrowed down the Vice Presidential field to the four candidates most likely to be on the ticket with Barack Obama in the fall and today we can already cross Hillary Clinton off of that list. Friday afternoon in an interview with the Argus Leader newspaper in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Hillary Cli more...
