As the polls show a tightening race it is becoming more and more clear every day that every vote in the Pennsylvania primary is going to be of crucial importance, and depending on the direction of the political winds next Tuesday, it could go either way.
Before I get into the potential outcomes of this contest though, let me put it in perspective; this campaign will go down in history as one of the most memorable of all time, and you,
There are so many reasons this race will be remembered.
The fact that either a woman or an African-American man will become The Democrat's nominee this summer has almost been forgotten, that's how exciting this campaign has been. The media may mention it once in a while, but only as an afterthought. For now we have a race on our hands! Or at least the media says we do.
As I have mentioned many times before, Barack Obama is the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party at this point. The Democrats are in the same boat as the Republicans were when Mike Huckabee refused to leave for reasons yet unknown. McCain was actually the presumptive nominee at that point it just wasn't official yet.
Yet, despite this race seemingly being over, it has been an historic campaign.
What began as a large field of political heavyweights has been narrowed down to two titans. One is representing the old Democratic Party machinery and the other is representing a new type of politics and a completely new direction for
Along the way both sides have been shattering fundraising records. Obama is far and away the most successful primary fundraiser in the history of this nation, raising at least $30 million a month for the past few months.
To spice things up even more, this election is taking place against the backdrop of two messy wars, a declared global "War on Terrorism", record gas prices and a nose-diving economy. Topping it all off, the next president will be replacing one of the least popular presidents in our nation's history?
The winner of this race will inherit a mess, but they will also have the opportunity to clean up Bush's disaster. Anyone who can pull that off is worthy of
Next week the state of
Do you want to be remembered as the state that clinched it for President Obama? Do you want to be remembered as the state that stood up and said ‘No' to Hillary Clinton's divisive, deceitful, corporate, stale brand of politics? Do you want to be remembered as the state that stood with Barack Obama and looked forward and said ‘Yes We Can"?
Or Pennsylvania, do you want to be forgotten as the news crews pack up, move out and split up to go cover North Carolina and Indiana?
The first option sounds a lot better, doesn't it?
Well it's within your reach. As I mentioned above, the polls are tightening, plus the candidates have agreed to debate later tonight. Obama has momentum on his side and if he can score a couple of points in the debate that gap between the two of them could be completely closed going into the weekend.
Like I said in my "Closer Look at Pennsylvania" post a week ago, this race is going to end up being within three points one way or the other. So if you're reading this post, get out there and vote on April 22nd. Don't let
It is within our reach
