McCain's Embarrassing New Ad
What do two blondes whose sexuality catapulted them into spots of undeserved adulation and global attention have to do with Obama?
For the life of me, I can't figure this one out. Yet, McCain attempts to convince us in his latest crapola ad that there is a tangible correlation between the two warped celebrity personas of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and presumptive Democratic nominee for President Barack Obama.
If you have't seen it yet, watch the new ad:
Somebody hand McCain a cane 'cause that's all he needs in order to finish this metamorphosis he's having. He's gone from a tough, maverick vet to a doddering old coot, yelling at Obama to "Get off my lawn!"
McCain, instead of just being secure in his own earned and learned capabilities, comes off as some old guy whose jealous of the young upstart.
Furthermore, by projecting the idea that he believes that Britney and Paris are somehow comparable to Obama, McCain poises himself for a crushing loss in November that is completely avoidable. I'm saying that as an Obama supporter, 'cause even I know Obama has his vulnerabilities-- yet McCain veers wildly away from effectively addressing them with ads like these.
McCain is in dangerous territory when he can liken Senator Barack Obama to the insipid-minded and vain Paris Hilton. The reason why this space McCain occupies right now is so dangerous is because it's the same ground Hillary Clinton treaded on before she fell into a very tempting but
campaign-fatal trap.
I mean, really, what are McCain's advisors thinking?
What trap is it that proves so effective for the Obama campaign in snaring Obama's political foes? It's the one where Hillary and others walk willingly through a portal into an alternate universe where they buy the idea that Obama got to where he is or will get to where he's going because he's some empty suit or talentless hack.
The self-destructive mistake Obama's political rivals make, and so do some in the media to the peril of their analysis, is constantly underestimating Obama. They like to dismiss him out of hand as all fluff or glitz. By doing that, they don't appreciate his overpowering intelligence, grit, or guile. McCain's snark towards Obama has him operating from a defensive position rather than an offensive one.
And that's not a good position to be in, especially against a sly opponent like Obama.
What's worse is that McCain is allowing his campaign to do this to him, placing him at a disadvantage by not recognizing the very real, substantive challenge Obama poses for them politically. Either because McCain's campaign doesn't recognize all contained in Obama's repertoire or because it really just doesn't want to acknowledge them, McCain's campaign makes him woefully unprepared in going after Obama.
For instance, while Obama is talking about the strategic benefits of going into Afghanistan, McCain complains of a cutesy love affair between Obama and the media-- a love affair that turns out to be nonexistent according to a study found here at the following link:

After the rough primary season between Obama and Clinton that was a gift to McCain, his continued inability to read his opponent well will make McCain's loss in November all that more embarrassing.
