Sarah Palin - The Say Anything Candidate

Yes, I’m a woman, and I see right through McCain’s strategy. McCain saw an opportunity, and he capitalized on it. Over 18 million people voted for Hillary Clinton, but Hillary Clinton lost the Democratic Nomination, so McCain decided to go after those Hillary Clinton disgruntled voters. The problem is that Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. I’ve seen women speak in favor of Palin, and as soon as a man says something in disagreement, they are ready to cry sexism. is this the Republican’s strategy? Are they going to nitpick everyone’s words and cry sexism even if it does not exists? Could it be a deliberate strategy? Sarah Palin took the gloves off and came out swinging, so why should people be dainty? No one is calling her names. People want to talk about the issues, and if talking about the issues makes one a sexist, then I guess the Republicans don’t know what sexism is; or are they using sexism as a scared tactic?

Sarah Palin is talking about experience? The woman is bragging about negotiating the sale of her states plane on ebay. Palin was a mayor of a town of 9,000 people, and she left the town in debt. Wow! Obama should be scared. Anyone can sell stuff on ebay. Give me a freaking break! How will that help John McCain find a solution to the current economic crisis? How will that help the millions of people in America without health care? Is that all Sarah Palin has to offer, negotiating the sale of a plane on ebay?

Sarah Palin had the nerve to criticize Obama’s community organizing. At least Obama cared enough about ordinary folks and wanted to make a better life for them. Did Palin empower people’s lives when she was running a small town? Hell no! She left them in debt. And get this: Sarah Palin did not even mention the economy in her speech. This is the woman McCain is trying to use as a substitute to reel in Hillary Clinton voters. Does McCain think that people are that stupid? Wake up, John McCain! The political tactics of yesteryear is so old and tired. Most people just aren’t that dumb anymore. More and more people are using the internet these days, so those people can see first hand the kind of games the Republican party is playing. First of all, Sarah Palin doesn’t even come close to Hillary Clinton’s experience and bragging rights. When Bill Clinton was in office, the economy was healthy, and he left office with a surplus. On the other hand, Sarah Palin left a town of 9,000 in debt. Can you imagine what she would do to the country if she is running it? The deficit would quadruple.

Now, let’s talk about sexism. The Republicans want to use it when it’s convenient to them. From what I gathered, there were buttons in the convention center stating that Sarah Palin is the hottest VP from the coolest state. Hypocritical, isn’t it?

Was it a good idea to attack the media? That’s the very forum on which they rely for their negative campaigning. The Republican party has hutzpah. That’s all I can say.

Discussion:

You’re so right, Anne2. It is so sad…

I was neither impressed nor surprised. It was business as usual - lies, smears, innuendo, fear mongering, bigotry, mere propaganda and distasteful sarcasm delivered by an arrogant whiner (oh yes, Palin, whiner…) barking the loudest she could because she was painfully short of arguments.

Diminishing Obama’s work as a community organizer says something extremely disturbing about the GOP. From what I have found out on her, Palin is just another shady opportunist deployed to capitalize on people’s ignorance and fear. The word that comes to my mind is fascist.

Now, it is high time people started making responsible choices based on real issues, fully aware of the consequences of their actions. (8 years of Bush/Cheney should be enough …) Men and women that have fought and will always be fighting for a woman’s sacred right to choose could never, NEVER (and I believe won’t ever) vote for Palin, who fiercely opposes such basic right even in case of rape or incest. Mothers and fathers who love their children can’t support deceitful war mongers, as much as they can’t vote for rascals determined to keep on perpetrating crimes against the environment. And what about the health care system, or the economy… McCain claims he doesn’t know anything about? If I’m not mistaken, Palin carefully avoided the subjects – maybe because she understands them as much as her boss does, or maybe because she couldn’t care less. Either way, I cannot imagine a better wake-up call!

Palin’s bragging about McCain picking the running mate he knew the least about allows the Democrats to present a very strong case against a Republican nominee, whose impulsiveness makes him absolutely unfit to lead.

Provided the Democrats remember they are Democrats and act accordingly, in more than a way Palin’s empty rhetoric should hopefully have made things much easier for every single responsible American voter.

obama courted independent voters with the Biden selection.  McCain courted the FAR right with his.  I feel pretty good about where the election is going after last night's speech.

One question - what do republicans have to be so mad about? They've controlled the White House for the past eight years and the congress for much of that time.  All bluster, no substance...

Very good question, Zenprise

By the look of it, they have developed a frantic addiction to power.

They’re probably mad at their obvious lack of substance… It must be tough – no fresh ideas, recycled concepts, paranoia, same old tactics…, no Obama…, no Biden….

Or maybe they know something we don’t know about the polls.
