Do you know who is electable in the November 2008 general election?

If you read my post from yesterday, you know that I am very disappointed by the media's undue influence on the tone and shaping of public opinion around this election.  Today the media is once again harping on the inevitability of a Clinton presidency. So then where are the follow-up discussions about her electability in November? They all talk about HRC's tendency toward polarization and divisiveness so why are there no conversations about HRC's ability to beat a Republican.

Today a New York Times Democratic blogger wrote that she voted for Clinton twice but if the race is between "Billary" and McCain, she will vote for McCain. The writer believes McCain will stand up to Washington corruption and "our oligarchic corporations, a tribe which Hillary represents". She also doesn't believe Bill Clinton should be allowed to re-enter Washington politics. Further she says, if HRC wants her vote, "she needs to lose Bill between now and November". I can confirm from my private conversations with friends AND strangers, this is a pervasive sentiment.

Voters, we must think beyond February 5th. It is nice to say we vote based on candidates' policy positions but realistically, save for views about lobbyists' influence in Washington, there few differences between Obama, Clinton and Edwards. Therefore, we MUST assess each candidate's capacity to broaden the Democratic base and defeat a Republican...whoever it is.

Although HRC again pilfered Obama's rhetoric on the "Today" show by saying they have built a "coalition of democrats, independents and republicans", the only candidate who has effectively achieved this is Barack Obama. With your support he can continue to spread his messages of hope and unity across the country.  The racial overtones surrounding the South Carolina election are a distraction from Obama's broad appeal to voters from all backgrounds and creeds. Ensure a Democratic victory in November and vote for the electable candidate. Vote for Barack Obama!
