More good news for Obama today: Caroline Kennedy has gone public with support, comparing Ob to her father, JFK. Her uncle Ted Kennedy has followed that with an endorsement. And Toni Morrison, for what it's worth, has also stepped forward with a thumbs up - interesting primarily because Toni generally doesn't endorse anybody. All fine. The popular media obviously love this type of "breaking news" and, fingers crossed, it's a leading indicator of Barack's increasing popularity. Great stuff.
But the media seems more reactive than thoughtful. In the marketplace for ideas, journalists who jump on breaking news are in a commodity business. Every website and news outlet gets the same basic news feeds, and true reporting is rare.
So why don't more journalists take a moment to look at what Barack has really accomplished to date? He won Iowa and South Carolina, true. But he also won more delegates than Hillary in Nevada, and he left New Hampshire with an equal delegate count. To some observers, it may look like Barack hasn't lost a state yet. And that's a story - particularly when you consider that he's competing against the Clinton machine.
Just a few thoughts to consider...
