Gov. Tom Vilsack is the former governor of Iowa.  He has executive experience, is from an important swing state / the midwest, and is a Hillary Clinton surrogate.  Vilsack also has roots in Pittsburgh, PA and is a Roman Catholic, both which can help Obama alot with Reagan Democrats.  He has a good personality and that rural demeanor that the people in Scranton would like.  Plus he should be nationally known to some extent since he ran for president but dropped out early.  As a governor though, he lacks foreign policy experience.  Despite this, he still deserves serious consideration and should be on the Veep shortlist here. 

I think you might be right.  He has suddenly become more vocal in the last few days.
