Speaker Pelosi:

No Escalation in Afghanistan!

Bring the Troops Home Now!

Support Single Payer Health Care!

Stop CO2 Pollution –350 by 2020!

Protest House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Friday, November 13,   4:30 PM until she leaves

Harvard U., JFK School, Littauer Bldg.

79 John F. Kennedy St., Cambridge

The Democrats won a majority in the House of

Representatives in 2006 on a popular mandate to bring the troops home and stop selling America to corporate interests. As Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi sets priorities for Congress.

There is no military solution in Afghanistan.   The more U.S. troops that are sent to prop up the corrupt regime, the harder it will be to make peace.  But under Speaker Pelosi’s leadership, Congress continues to support the occupations.  Congress must cut off the funds and bring all the troops home from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq.

The military spends $1 trillion a year and has over 700 foreign bases, and over $1 trillion has been given to Wall Street, while climate change is met by only a token response and millions are jobless, losing their homes, and have no healthcare.   Gov. Patrick says Massachusetts has to lay off 2,000 more workers.    Does this make sense?

Science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.   Yet the cap-and-trade system planned by Congressional Democrats can be easily gamed by polluters and has much weaker targets.

Many Physicians and health experts agree that to provide cost-effective, high quality health care to all our people, single-payer is the best system.    Yet Rep. Pelosi said that single-payer is “off the table” and we are stuck with a health care bill that is a bonanza for insurance companies and puts an individual mandates on the people who can least afford it.
