Executive Director Job Description
The Executive Director (ED) of the Vermont Democratic Party (VDP) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Party Headquarters including its effective administration, fundraising, 21st century communications, grassroots organizing, secure files and party assets and political operations.

Financial & Administrative
The ED is responsible for managing the VDP budget, payroll, taxes (including payroll, unemployment and federal tax on interest earned) and campaign finance compliance (state and federal). The ED iimplements a comprehensive, year round fundraising plan.
State, County, and Town Committees
The ED is responsible for scheduling and facilitating state and executive committee meetings; overseeing the re-organization efforts of town, county and state committees; executing the delegate selection process (county, state and national); and overseeing organization of the justice of the peace caucuses in the summer/fall of election years.
Communications
The ED will work with the State Chair to develop and implement a comprehensive communications program that includes on going effective interaction with members of the press, representing the Party's interests in the state legislature, relations with County Chairs and other organizations whose missions are supported by the VDP Platform.
Political Relations & Organization
Key responsibilities include regular interaction with statewide Democratic officers and legislative leadership, recruiting candidates, maintaining relationships with various constituency, grassroots and other organizations.
Coordinated Campaign
The ED develops a budget and plan for the coordinated campaign, based on budget research and consultation with all candidates participating in the coordinated effort. Oversees field, voter identification, voter file, persuasion, research and GOTV activities.
General Qualifications:
The ED must have excellent administrative and communication skills. The ED takes responsibility for initiating communication with the Party Chair, elected officials, and the national Democratic Party on the issues that affect the well-being of the VDP. Thorough knowledge of all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, firmness in protecting the ongoing viability of the Party and skill in finding common ground with strong personalities and sometimes differing interests are critical to success in this job.
