Associate Regional Representative
The Sierra Club, a leading national environmental organization, seeks an Associate Regional Representative for Kentucky. This is a one year grant-funded position which requires extensive travel. Location TBD, based on qualifications.
The Associate Regional Representative is responsible to recruit, train and involve volunteers on public education campaigns to develop strong community-based committees and presence in Kentucky on issues related primarily to mountain top removal, stopping new coal power plants, and any coal to liquid proposals in the region. The Representative will carry out the strategies and activities for campaigns and programs in the region and participate in the development of strategies and priorities.
Qualified candidate will have a B.A./B.S. degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science or a closely related field; 1-2 years’ experience in the environmental field that includes research and organizing campaigns, press relations and public speaking; valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance required; good written and oral communication skills, prior experience and ability writing training and information materials; prior experience and knowledge of the legislative process, and demonstrated ability and effectiveness working with volunteers.
