SUMMARY:
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization for equal rights, seeks a highly experienced
Web Activist. We are seeking a talented Oline Organizer, responsible for online strategy development, email campaign creation, project management, and online community and grassroots outreach efforts. The Online Organizer must have functional understanding of internet technology and communications. Experienced with blogs, social networking sites, and email list communications.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have strong and fast writing skills; ability to multitask; willingness to work hard; accountability to goals; ability to learn quickly; energy and enthusiasm for innovation. Prior experience in online organizing a plus but not required. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, especially writing and content creation. Design experience, union, community, or political organizing experiences also a plus.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Web Activist will work under the direct supervision of the Director of IT. The principal functions of the Web Activisit will be to:

Execute online campaigns and maintain and update the NAACP’s social network initiatives and blog.
Work with the cross-departmental communications team to develop a plan and the tactics for a consistent and concerted online mobilization, outreach, fundraising and membership development.
Develop an email strategy and lead implementation of email campaigns.
Oversee creative production and distribution of regular outbound emails and newsletter programs.
Create, plan and execute online communications strategies that support priorities areas.
Build and grow the NAACP’s base of on-line supporters as well as develop and create ways for the NAACP to tell its story online while encouraging members to do the same.
Establish, write and maintain the NAACP’s blog, and guest-blog on well-known blogs.
Train branch and field to utilize the web for effective advocacy and outreach.
Perform all other duties as which may be assigned by the Director of IT and the President/CEO.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
FLSA Status: Exempt (Temporary position is for six months with opportunity for permanent placement)
Classification: Non Union
Travel: As applicable
