This person will serve as a legislative and policy analyst for tax policy issues for the Speaker of the House and Democratic Caucus members. Policy analysts are expected to perform high-quality, objective research and analysis in a fast-paced environment requiring a high level of self-direction. This person will work with House members and staff, the Senate, the executive branch, and outside interest groups to research issues, develop legislation, and negotiate agreements on legislation. Policy analysts are also expected to provide regular analysis and procedural support for House committees, any related subcommittees or workgroups, and House Session.
The position requires experience with MS Word and Excel, and the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion. To qualify for the position, an applicant should at least have a Bachelor’s Degree in economics, public policy, business, accounting, or a related field, although an advanced degree is desirable. A qualified candidate must have excellent writing, research, analytical (quantitative), oral communication, organizational and time-management skills and must be pro-active, creative, service-oriented, and able to calmly and effectively manage high-pressure situations.
