Okay, so, personally, I love the guy. He's one of the only true progressives in the U.S. Senate, never afraid to speak his mind and vote his conscience. But I see no point to his presence on the ticket. Wisconsin will go blue this year; high African-American turnout in Milwaukee and the educated "yuppie" vote in Madison will put Obama over the top. And don't forget that the Chicago media market overlaps into southern Wisconsin, so many of the state's residents are already favorably disposed toward the senator from Illinois. Furthermore, it might be a bit too much change all at once to have a ticket that consists of an African-American AND a Jewish candidate. I'm a Jewish woman myself, and it pains me that such limitations play a role in our politics . . . but it is the sad truth. Obama will have to pick a white Christian male for VP. Any other option might scare off too many people who can only overcome one prejudice at a time, slowly.
